Healing Places

Places that link us together as community, that heal us are integral and central to our lives. This page will share knowledge gained on historical sites that are healing places; whether it be a hospital, a place of healing waters, or an ancient archeological site. These places have survived much over time like wars, pandemics, natural disasters, reuse or transformation. Central to their survival over time is a value to their community. Common features they may have are durable materials, courtyards, connection to nature, and natural daylight.

This first series will focus primarily on Italy and next year, Portugal and Spain. There will also be other surprise places visited as well.

I will post soon about an Ancient Greek site that inspired this architectural scholarship study.
